Alnwick has a whole host of local and interesting attractions ranging from Alnwick Castle, home of the Duke of Northumberland and famously used in Harry Potter as Hogwarts, The Alnwick Garden and Barter Books, one of the largest second hand bookshops in the UK.

In addition to all of the local attractions in and around Alnwick, the town is the perfect base for exploring Northumberland with many beautiful places to visit and see within very easy reach.

Some of the best beaches in the the UK await you with large wide golden sandy bays backed by undulating dunes.  

Northumberland is steeped in history and blessed with numerous castles, some complete, some ruined from Warkworth in the South (the old seat of the Duke of Northumberland), to Bamburgh in the North.  

Further up the coast lies the Farne Islands with their resident puffins, Holy Island, Lindisfarne Nature Reserve and the infamous  military fortress town of Berwick-upon-Tweed at the Northern most tip of the County.  

Inland, the natural spectacles and sheer beauty of the Cheviot Hills and Northumberland National Park await to be discovered with great walks to be had ranging from easy river side ambles, to full hiking days out.
